The two waterfront developments on reclaimed land involved cut-and-fill operations and land raising to final handover levels. Dynamic Compaction and Rapid Impact Compaction (RIC) were employed to densify the reclaimed soils and deliver stable, well-compacted platforms ready for future development.
The project
SEVEN’s Al Khobar and Dammam waterfront developments are landmark entertainment destinations built on reclaimed land as part of Saudi Arabia’s nationwide initiative to enhance tourism, leisure, and quality of life. Together, these large-scale waterfront projects will create vibrant entertainment hubs and strengthen the region’s recreational infrastructure.
The challenge
The project demanded precise coordination to meet an accelerated schedule, maintain uninterrupted material supply from multiple sources, and satisfy the extensive testing and verification requirements necessary for the handover of completed zones.
The solution
Utilizing Dynamic Compaction (DC) and Rapid Impact Compaction (RIC) techniques, Keller improved the engineered fill and underlying soils to meet the required performance criteria for the planned entertainment and leisure facilities, while also delivering the associated earthworks scope to achieve the required formation levels for subsequent construction activities.
