Through value engineering, Keller replaced the originally specified stone columns with Dynamic Compaction, delivering significant time and cost efficiencies while achieving the required performance criteria.
The project
Keller delivered large-scale ground improvement works using Dynamic Compaction and Rapid Impact Compaction, treating deep fill exceeding 15 m to prepare the platform and final slopes for future development.
The challenge
The works were executed adjacent to an operational gas plant and live gas pipelines, requiring strict vibration control and continuous monitoring. Deep variable fill, exposed slopes and interfaces with multiple contractors added further complexity to the site operations.
The solution
Keller adopted Dynamic Compaction as the optimal solution for deep ground treatment, supported by controlled platform preparation and temporary overfilling for safe slope compaction.
Comprehensive vibration monitoring and mitigation measures were implemented to protect the adjacent gas facilities and live utilities.
The works treated up to more than 15 m of deep mass backfill and slope areas, with the project completed to high safety standards and zero lost time injuries.
