Ground improvement was required for weak soils composed of soft clay, particularly in areas located near live utilities.

The project
The project involves the construction of a logistics and office facility at ICAD III, situated in Abu Dhabi Industrial City, UAE. As part of this development, Keller was entrusted with executing ground improvement works to strengthen the in-situ weak soil conditions across roadways and non-building areas. As a specialized geotechnical contractor, Keller implemented Vibro Replacement (Stone Columns) and Dynamic Replacement techniques to ensure soil stability and compliance with project requirements.
The challenge
The primary challenge of the project involved completing it within the specified timeframe, while also addressing the diverse soil characteristics and working near utilities, without causing any damage.
The solution
Keller adopted tailored approaches in select areas to expedite and optimize the Dynamic Replacement (DR) method, efficiently meeting the required project criteria.
To overcome the challenges of working near utilities, Keller proposed and executed the Vibro Replacement method. This solution successfully met the project requirements while ensuring no damage to utilities or the need for their relocation.
Keller successfully completed its project scope within the specified timeframe, upholding the highest standards of quality and safety at every stage.
