Simultaneous delivery of bored piling works at two MSSD facilities, overcoming diverse ground conditions through controlled execution, rigorous quality control, and coordinated resource management.
The project
The MSSD Shops Expansion Projects within King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) Dammam and in Jeddah involves construction for specialized facilities, including spare parts manufacturing and repair, to support the energy sector. The facilities provide future-ready commercial spaces for energy companies.
The challenge
Concurrent piling operations across two sites with contrasting med-very dense sandy strata in SPARK site to weak Basalt formation in Jeddah site demanded independent planning, specialized resources, and coordinated material deliveries to maintain the critical project timeline.
The solution
Keller successfully delivered a build-only subcontract involving the construction of approximately 1,000 bored piles (Ø800 mm) across both MSSD locations. The project incorporated a comprehensive QA/QC program, including preliminary instrumented load tests in compression, tension, and lateral loading. Quality assurance of all production piles was achieved through low-strain integrity testing, ensuring compliance with design and performance requirements.
