This project exemplifies Keller's proven capability to deliver engineered foundation solutions in challenging ground conditions while meeting demanding programme requirements. The successful completion of the works ahead of schedule demonstrates the value of Keller's technical expertise, innovation, and execution excellence.
The project
Under Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund, a $372 million multi-use resort at half-moon bay spanning 262,000 sqm operated by RIXOS brand and fully managed by Accor delivery includes 400 hotel units, 41 residential villas and a variety of restaurants, cafés and entertainment facilities.
The challenge
The Owner’s prime condition was to complete the piling works for nearly 1300 piles in 3.5 months with CIS bored piling technique since very dense ground conditions were encountered to reach pile toe levels up to 25m. Alternate solutions were being sought to meet the program challenges.
The solution
Keller's innovative and value-engineered CFA piling solution successfully overcame challenging ground conditions while meeting demanding programme requirements. The use of a modified pilot drilling system developed for very dense ground significantly enhanced productivity, enabling the works to be completed safely, efficiently, and ahead of schedule. CFA piles of 0.8 m diameter were installed in accordance with the original foundation design, with lengths ranging from 19 m to 24 m.
