Keller improved the 175,000m² area within the time frame with good quality and no safety issues and received appreciations from the client for design support and adopting the changes in execution swiftly.

The project
Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing establishment is developing the 398 Residential units/villas in Al Awir first, Dubai as a part of the UAE government housing scheme. This project is a part of government's continuous dedication to provide family stability and better living conditions for Emiratis by means of carefully designed residential areas.
Keller (Special Geotechnical Contractors) was assigned by Main Contractor M/s Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast LLC, Dubai branch, to carry out Ground Improvement works by Rapid Impact compaction and Rigid Inclusion.
The challenge
The project was challenging due to the GI work operation near to the live utilities and different improvement depths as loose soil was varying.
The main challenge was to complete such a large area within the given time frame where live utilities (water line) were running adjacent to the working plot. Also, loose soil, varying in project plot, was found up to 4m in some locations and up to 6m in some locations.
Keller achieved the project design criteria by adopting precautionary measures and design solutions.
The solution
Keller implemented the most effective ground improvement techniques to meet the required design criteria within the allocated schedule.
